Irritec compression fittings (Italy): Professional solutions for mounting and repairing PE pipes from Agras
Any modern engineering network — be it a professional automatic irrigation system, a summer water supply mainline, or a drip irrigation line — is reliable only to the extent that its weakest connection is reliable. The desire to save on connecting elements often leads to hidden water leaks, pressure drops in the system, and, as a result, the need for expensive excavations and repairs.
To forget about leakage problems once and for all, professional installers and engineers choose Irritec compression fittings (Italy). In the online store Agras we have collected a complete range of original Italian compression fittings that allow you to quickly create an absolutely hermetic and durable node without using welding equipment or special tools.
Anatomy of reliability: Why are Irritec fittings considered the standard?
The Italian brand Irritec is a world leader in the production of equipment for micro-irrigation and water supply. The compression fittings of this brand are designed to withstand extreme loads: working pressure up to PN16 (16 bar) and sharp temperature fluctuations.
The design of each compression fitting consists of five interconnected elements:
Body made of primary polypropylene (PP-B): It has exceptional mechanical strength, impact resistance, UV protection, and resistance to chemicals (including liquid fertilizers).
Compression nut (dark green): It has an ergonomic shape with stiffening ribs that allow you to tighten the fitting by hand or using a special compression key.
Cam compression ring (white split): Made from strong polyacetal (POM). When the nut is tightened, it tightly clamps the PE pipe, and its internal teeth literally bite into the plastic, preventing the pipe from being pulled out even with powerful hydraulic shocks.
Stop ring (clip): Transfers the force from the nut to the seal and fixes it in the correct position.
Profile sealing ring (gasket): Made from high-quality nitrile rubber NBR. It provides perfect hydro insulation of the connection even with minor deformations or scratches on the pipe itself.
Model range of Irritec compression fittings in the Agras catalog
To implement any engineering task, we offer several types of fittings, each optimized for a specific usage scenario. All models are available in the following diameters: 25 mm, 32 mm, 40 mm, and 50 mm.
1. Coupling fittings (equal passage)
The most popular type of fitting, designed for direct connection of two sections of PE pipes of the same diameter.
Usage scenario: Laying long main lines on a site or quickly repairing a damaged pipe (for example, if it was accidentally damaged by a shovel or cultivator). It is enough to cut out the damaged piece and install a coupling fitting.
2. Fittings with external and internal threads
These fittings are the main "bridge" between the plastic pipeline and other equipment in the system. On one end of the fitting, there is a standard compression clamp for the pipe, and on the other end, there is a high-quality pipe thread (external or internal) from 1/2" to 2" inches.
Usage scenario: Connecting solenoid valves in valve boxes, installing disc or mesh filters, connecting ball valves, connecting to pumping stations, or exiting to garden hydrants (water outlets).
3. American fittings (disconnecting connections)
The American fitting is the pinnacle of convenience for system maintenance. It consists of a compression connection on one side and a nut (with a thread) on the other. This allows you to disassemble and assemble the node without rotating the pipes or fittings themselves.
Usage scenario: Connecting pumping equipment, connecting storage tanks (barrels), and installing system blowout nodes with compressed air for winter. In the fall, you simply unscrew the nut, remove the equipment for winter storage, and in the spring, you can just as easily install it back.
4. Reducing fittings (transition)
Used for hermetic connection of two PE pipes of different diameters.
Usage scenario: Transition from the main supply line (for example, 40 mm or 32 mm) to secondary irrigation zones (for example, 25 mm). This helps balance the hydraulic pressure in the system and save money on the cost of smaller diameter pipes.
Areas of application and resistance to operating conditions
Thanks to the impeccable physicochemical properties of the materials, Irritec compression fittings are successfully used in various fields:
Automatic landscape irrigation: Operation under constant static and dynamic pressure in hidden underground nodes.
Drip irrigation: Reliable connection of water supply lines to filtration stations and fertilizer injection nodes (Venturi injectors). Irritec polypropylene is not destroyed by the influence of mineral acids and salts.
Private water supply: Supply of drinking and technical water from wells or boreholes to a house. The materials of the fittings are absolutely hygienic and do not affect the taste or smell of the water.
Irritec fittings are not subject to corrosion, do not overgrow with limestone deposits inside, and have a low roughness coefficient, which minimizes water friction pressure losses. They easily withstand soil freezing in winter (provided proper conservation and water drainage from the system) and summer heat, when the temperature of the open pipeline in the sun can reach significant values.
Brief instructions: How to properly install an Irritec coupling
To ensure the installation goes perfectly, follow a simple algorithm:
Pipe preparation: Cut the PE pipe evenly with special scissors (pipe cutter). Clean the end of the pipe from dirt, dust, and burrs. To facilitate installation, you can make a small chamfer on the pipe end.
Coupling preparation: Loosen the locking nut on the coupling by several turns (it's not necessary to completely unscrew it).
Installation: With a confident movement, push the pipe inside the coupling through the locking ring and seal until it stops. You should feel that the pipe has passed through the rubber ring.
Fixation: Tighten the nut by hand until it stops. For diameters of 40 and 50 mm, it is recommended to make a final tightening using a special Irritec compression key.
